Evil Never Rests

Miriam Abramowitz had gotten the text from her boss and sent another off to Rob Epstein asking when she could start as his personal secretary. Within minutes he’d responded and the one-word message read, “Monday.”

Forty-five minutes later, Miriam and Epstein were having lunch together at the swanky Red Pepper Grill, just inside the DC border from Coral Hills, Maryland.

“So what made you decide to come work for me?” Epstein asked, after taking a sip of wine.

Miriam smiled at him. “Diane is very demanding. I’m tired of taking her crap and doing all her shit jobs. I think working for you will be far less demanding.”

Epstein smiled. “Certainly during the workday.”

Miriam smiled back and took a sip of her wine. She set her glass on the table. “I don’t have a problem with the after-hours work.”

“Good. Because I am anticipating there will be lots of after-hours work.”

“One of the benefits of the job?”

“You might say that.”

“After lunch, may I see my new office?”

“On Saturday?”

“Sure. I want to see where I’ll be working.”

He shrugged. “Okay. Why not?”

Miriam smiled. This is going to be so easy.
